The anatomy of the word holler comes from “hollow,” as in, mountain valley. Down south, the early American Pioneers would find a deep holler with good dirt and fresh water and they’d set up a homestead. Most times, hollers became the generational home of a family, the place everyone heads back to for the holidays.
